Tenugui is a type of traditional Japanese towel made of plain-woven cotton, which belies its versatility and aesthetic appeal. The rich colours and intricate designs make each tenugui a piece of art in its own right, whether it's depicting traditional motifs, nature scenes, or contemporary patterns. The smooth texture of the quality cotton adds to its allure, making it both functional and pleasing to the touch. Once you experience the beauty and texture of a tenugui, it's easy to understand why they hold such a special place in Japanese culture and why they're cherished by those who appreciate fine craftsmanship and artistic expression.

By incorporating elements of skeleton into the design, the tenugui takes on a more unconventional and edgy tone. This fusion of traditional and contemporary motifs adds depth and contrast, making the design stand out and inviting viewers to explore the intersection of life, death, beauty, and culture. This skeleton tenugui offers a unique and thought-provoking interpretation of Japanese aesthetics, appealing to those who appreciate both tradition and innovation in art and design.

Texture: The texture of this type of Tenugui is smooth and slightly crispy. Suitable for table runners, tapestries, covers, door curtains (although only one side is dyed), handicrafts and gifts.

Size: About 35cm by 90 cm (13.5”x35.5”), 100% cotton

*SEWING SERVICE*
Since the edges of Tenugui are unfinished, we also offer 2 kinds of stitched Tenugui for an extra 5 CAD for both ends.

Option 1  Tenugui for Curtain Rod:
If you use a thin curtain rod to display Tenugui, choose " Tenugui for Rod" which has space for 1.5cm diameter runner on top and a finished edge on the bottom end.
*The length of Tenugui will be about 7cm shorter than the original size.

Option 2  Edges-sewed Tenugui (Suitable for tapestry kit too)
Please pick "Edge-sewed Tenugui" if you would like to have the ends stitched without extra space for rods.
*The length of Tenugui will be about 3cm shorter than the original size.
